Why Do We Sell Sawdust Bags for Dry Toilets?
We hesitated for a long time before offering this product. Indeed, shipping sawdust across France seemed environmentally unfriendly to us.
Coming from a heavily wooded region, with the Lot and Dordogne nearby, it took us some time to understand the difficulties that dry toilet users face.
In fact, the supply of sawdust or other carbonaceous material for dry toilet litter becomes difficult, especially for those of you in more urban areas.
That’s why, in response to the growing demand from our customers and other dry toilet users, we decided to market sawdust for dry toilet litter.
You can read in our news section an article that explains the reasons for our preference for sawdust over wood shavings.
The Choice of Packaging: Jute Bags
Once the decision was made to sell sawdust bags for dry toilets, another question arose.
Sawdust bag in jute.
What is the most appropriate packaging?
At first, we thought of shipping sawdust in woven polypropylene bags. However, using new bags, even if they are recyclable, seemed like a wasteful and not very environmentally friendly option to us.
Then, another question arose: what will you do with these bags once they are empty? Unsightly and unpleasant to the touch, they are good for the trash.
So, this option did not satisfy us. We thought of another solution.
That’s when we came up with the idea of using second-life bags.
We initially considered rice bags from Asia, which, once empty, could have been reused. However, we quickly realized that these bags were also made of plastic. So, this solution was abandoned.
That’s when we thought of using coffee bags. Coming from South America and Africa, these jute bags, made from plant material, are beautifully screen-printed, sturdy, and in very good condition. 100% recyclable and recycled, they perfectly fit what we were looking for.
Using bags from the other side of the world might not seem very eco-responsible or even absurd, but when we buy them, they have already made the journey and arrived in our territory. Instead of sending them back to where they came from or throwing them away, giving them a second life seems to us to be the most eco-friendly solution.
In addition to this second life, you can also reuse them for your interior decoration and design.
