SECTION 5: SPECIAL CASE OF DRY TOILETS
Art. 17

By way of derogation from article 3, so-called dry toilets (without the addition of dilution or transport water) are authorized, provided that they do not generate any nuisance for the neighborhood.

  • no liquid discharge outside the plot,
  • nor pollution of surface or groundwater.

Dry toilets are implemented:

  • or to jointly treat urine and feces. In this case, they are mixed with organic material to produce compost;
  • or to treat the feces by drying. In this case, the urine must enter the treatment system provided for gray water, in accordance with the provisions of articles 6 and 7.

Dry toilets are made up of a waterproof tank that receives faeces or urine. The tank is regularly emptied into a sealed area designed to prevent any leakage and protected from bad weather.

The by-products resulting from the use of dry toilets must be recycled on the plot and not generate any nuisance for the neighborhood or pollution.
